According to the publication, the company’s first North American steel facility project will contend for the honor in the 2026 Louisiana Energy Awards. Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel announced the news through its LinkedIn page, which has been updated frequently with updates on the project in the RiverPlex MegaPark, located along the west bank of the Mississippi River near Donaldsonville. Louisiana officials have touted the steel mill, as it is expected to bring thousands of jobs to the Baton Rouge region. Finalists for the award also include the Shintech Plaquemine Plant 4 $3.4 billion expansion and the Argent LNG Port Fourchon export project. Small-to-midsized energy company of the year finalists include RES Contractors, Orion Engineers + Constructors and The TJC Group. Finalists for energy company of the year with more than 250 employees are Shell, Entergy Louisiana, Danos and Excel Group. Also, Performance Contractors founder and Chairman Art Favre is set to be honored with the lifetime achievement award, while ExxonMobil will receive the community impact award. The awards will be presented Nov. 18 at the L’Auberge Casino Hotel in Baton Rouge. Additionally, HPLS announced the Heart and Seoul Festival will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, from 2-7 p.m. in Louisiana Square in Donaldsonville.
