Lincoln Police cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)Trenton Bogenreif (Courtesy of Lancaster County Corrections) LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 31)–A 30-year-old Lincoln post office worker is in the Lancaster County Jail, accused of a larceny from the U.S. Post Office at 7th and “R” Street where he allegedly st ole nearly $46,000 in sports cards, including six high-value football and basketball cards purchased online. Lincoln Police public information manager Erika Thomas says the victim reported that the package was supposed to arrive Saturday night, but never showed up. She says one of the cards was found later posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Thomas says online communication with the seller by police led to an arranged purchase with plain-clothed officers shortly after 11pm Saturday. They met the suspect at WarHorse Casino where he was ultimately taken into custody. The U.S. Postal Employee, Trenton Bogenreif, was arrested and put in jail for theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more. Thomas said the package included six high-dollar football and basketball cards the man had purchased online, including an autographed $25,000 Victor Wembanyama card and a $1,000 Quinshon Judkins card. Wembanyama is the star center for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs and Judkins plays for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. Apparently, an arrangement between the officers and Bogenreif were for both Wembanyama and Judkins cards for $20,000. Thomas says four other cards have not been recovered, including cards for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and former NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady and Drew Brees. LPD says they believe those cards were already sold or traded at a card show in the Omaha area.
