INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) The Indianapolis Zoo is saying goodbye to a beloved face in the Forests exhibit.Red panda Randall was found deceased by animal care staff Friday morning, just before the exhibit opened for the day, the zoo a nnounced.The Zoo said although Randall's death was natural and peaceful, it was unexpected. He had recently completed his annual exam with no signs of illness.Randall arrived at the Zoo in 2024 and passed away at 12 years old, longer than most red pandas live in the wild.His care team called him a sweet and gentle fellow."This news will hit hard for our staff, volunteers and the many members and guests who enjoyed seeing Randall lounge in his tree while eating some bamboo or biscuits," the zoo said.He shared his space with female red panda Maiya, who remains at the Zoo.Red pandas are listed as Endangered due to habitat loss, climate change, poaching, and the animal trade. ...read more read less
