Two firefighters are recovering in the hospital after suffering injuries while responding to an RV fire in Rendon on Friday afternoon. Tarrant County Emergency Services District 1 was the initial responder to the RV fire, but once the flames began to grow, crews from other jurisdictions were disp atched to assist. The Crowley Fire Department was dispatched to Jessica Lane in Tarrant County at approximately 2:30 p.m. CFD crews found a fully involved RV fire actively spreading to nearby structures and surrounding brush and trees when they arrived. The incident quickly grew into a large-scale response involving 33 apparatus from Mansfield, Crowley, Tarrant County ESD, Pantego, Fort Worth, Forest Hill, Dalworthington Gardens, Benbrook, Venus, Edgecliff Village, Everman, Johnson County ESD, and the Texas AM Forestry Service, according to CFD. Mansfield Fire said its crews worked the fire for approximately seven hours, working alongside mutual aid partners in 100+ degree temperatures. CFD said its crews worked for approximately three hours. Fire suppression efforts were complicated by numerous factors including, but not limited to: limited apparatus access, the distance to available hydrants, and the significant water supply needed throughout the incident. Authorities said that some of those water supply lines were also damaged by vehicle traffic, which created additional challenges for crews working to maintain an adequate water supply. Two firefighters were injured in the response and sent to the hospital. Authorities say they are in stable condition. It is unknown which departments the injured firefighters worked for.
