While visiting NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, the president presented the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to Artemis II astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. The recognition followed their historic journey around the moon. During the ceremony, Trump highlighted the crew’s request to name a lunar crater “Carroll” in honor of Wiseman’s late wife, Carroll Taylor Wiseman, who died of cancer in 2020, according to Courthouse News. “I remember during the mission, the crew named a previously unnamed lunar crater in loving memory of Reid’s wonderful wife, whom we lost to cancer. They call it the Carroll Crater,” Trump began. He continued praising her memory, stressing that the tribute would keep her name alive and ensure no one forgot her. Then came the pivot from a grieving widower to Trump’s favorite subject. “I wish they’d name something like that after me, Reid, but I don’t know,” Trump said. “I’ll have to get the governor’s approval. I like that. That’s beautiful.” People on X could not believe he squeezed a branding opportunity into a memorial. “It’s ALWAYS about him! What a sick human,” one person wrote. Another observed, “Not one person there smiled or laughed at his lame attempt at humor.” Another joked, “Oh no, The Idiot is going to get his Sharpies out again,” as one critic asked, “What is wrong with this guy?” More critics piled on about Trump’s obsession with slapping his name on buildings just like he did with the Kennedy Center and now the former Palm Beach Airport. Many called him “pathetic” and “disgusting,” among other names, for making the moment about himself. “There must be a toxic dump somewhere needing a name?” someone asked. “ME ME ME ME ME ME. I know many wives would not even be crying,” Trump said. He called Jennifer “an absolute mess” and treated her grief like evidence entered at a marriage trial. President DJT.” Margo, the wife of billionaire donor John Catsimatidis and mother of Manhattan GOP Chairwoman Andrea Catsimatidis, prompted speculation that Trump’s cryptic post praised her daughter.
