BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is bringing Louisiana's Acadian roots to life with a free Acadian Cultural Heritage Event this weekend.The event is designed to celebrate and highlight Acadian culture and heritage that has been passed down through generations of Louisianans.Participating organizations will have exhibitor tables to share resources, educate guests about Acadian heritage and culture, promote upcoming events and highlight membership opportunities.Guests will also have the opportunity to take guided tours of the LSU Center for River Studies, including the River Model, throughout the event.Partner organizations taking part include the Allemands Elementary Traveling Cajun Dancers, Acadian Brown Cotton, Acadian Museum, Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, Atchafalaya National Heritage Area, State Archaeology Office, Cajun French Music Association of Baton Rouge, Atchafalaya Basinkeepers, Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building, Bayou Vermilion District (Vermilionville), Atchafalaya Swamp Base, Cajun Coast and Mr. Charlie Oil Rig and Diver's Museum and Acadiana Native Plant Project.The free event is happening Aug. 29th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to all ages.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
