MORGAN CITY mdash; Two Morgan City shrimpers were cited for illegally modifying their turtle excluder devices, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said Thursday.nbsp;LDWF said agents stopped Brent Boudreaux, 62, as he was fishing in Oyster Bayou on Aug. 17.nbsp;According to LDWF, Bou dreaux had tied the ends of the flaps on his double-cover TED in a crisscross manner, which is illegal.The next day, agents patrolling the Gulf stopped Thomas Ackman, 57. He allegedly used plastic cable ties to hold the flaps of his TED closed mdash; also an illegal modification.Agents seized 155 pounds of shrimp from Boudreaux and 18 pounds from Ackman, and sold them all to the highest bidder.nbsp;A TED is a device that allows sea turtles to escape from commercial fishing nets, preventing them from drowning in trawl gear.nbsp;Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
