Burglars broke into the new CardVault by Tom Brady in Palo Alto over the weekend, making off with roughly 60 collectible trading cards — just a week after the store’s grand opening.The break-in happened around 12:30 am Saturday, when one or more intruders smashed through the window and damaged d isplay cases at sports collectible retailer CardVault by Tom Brady, as Palo Alto Online reports. About 60 trading cards were taken, with police putting their total value at more than $12,000. No arrests have reportedly been made.Brady joined CardVault as a 50% owner and partner in 2025, when the company had just three stores. The company opened its San Francisco flagship store across from Oracle Park in February, and there’s also a Sacramento location.The Palo Alto store is CardVault by Tom Brady's 17th retail location in the US, in addition to kiosks in Minneapolis and Boston.The burglary came just days after the Palo Alto store held its grand opening on August 15, reportedly drawing a large crowd of collectors and Brady fans. According to KTVU, some fans began lining up at 2:30 am in hopes of Brady showing up. Brady did end up making a surprise appearance, posing for photos, signing memorabilia, and joining business owners and city officials for the ribbon-cutting. Brady said the Palo Alto opening had personal significance.“Growing up in San Mateo, I got into collecting when I was a young kid,” said Brady, speaking to KTVU about opening a store so close to home. “A huge fan of the 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, the Warriors, and it’s very surreal to come back.” The company has since been pursuing a much larger expansion, announcing earlier this month that new strategic investors include Jay-Z, Yankees star Aaron Judge, and UFC CEO Dana White, per KTVU.When asked about the company’s goal of reaching 100 stores, Brady asked, “Why only 100?
