Summit County has been recognized as one of the nation’s top 15 rural communities for 2026 by Expansion Solutions Magazine. The recognition is part of the Expansion Solutions 2026 Awards of Excellence, one of the publication’s highest annual honors celebrating leadership in economic developm ent and business growth across the United States. “This award really reflects the quality of our business community, our citizens, and our visitors,” said Jeff Jones, economic development and housing director. “We’re grateful for the support and partnership of other counties and the state, and we’re excited that our Wasatch Back communities continue to thrive.” The publication evaluated communities through an extensive analysis of economic performance, corporate investment activity, workforce strength, infrastructure readiness and long-term competitiveness. The ranking recognizes communities demonstrating the strategic planning, collaboration and economic development leadership needed to compete for business investment, according to Summit County. Summit County said the recognition highlights its continued work to strengthen the local economy while positioning the community for sustainable future growth.
