The timeline initially set out to get Kensington High School students back to their home school could change as the district addresses an asbestos issue there, Philadelphia School District Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington said Tuesday. Asked how confident he was that students and staff would be back at Kensington High School in January, Watlington said the district wants to do the work right. Watlington confirmed a description of the asbestos issue that the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers had shared earlier in the month when they said that a contractor not specialized in asbestos had been the one to disturb the asbestos during HVAC work, prompting the response.
