The Park City Police Department recently pulled over drivers who were reported to have used sections of roadway not designed for regular travel. Public police logs showed traffic stops related to driving in a median among categories of more common moving violations. An officer stopped a drive r at 8:57 a.m. on Aug. 19 in the area of Kearns Boulevard and Richardson Flat Road, indicating the person was “using the center median as a drive lane” and entering the median too soon. Similar cases were reported at 8:46 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. At 8:01 a.m. that day, meanwhile, an officer pulled over a driver on Kearns Boulevard, outside the Park City School District campus, after watching the inbound vehicle use road space designated for buses. The Police Department on Aug. 18 at a little after 7 a.m. received a complaint about an inbound driver on S.R. 224 using the median and traveling at 80 mph. The person was in a white Audi, the police were told.  Public police logs did not provide details about any enforcement actions taken against the drivers. Police officers are believed to issue warnings in many cases unless a suspected violation is deemed serious or the driver is a repeat offender. Traffic-related issues have long been some of the chief law enforcement-related complaints of Parkites. The Police Department regularly conducts traffic patrols in various locations, including the entryways. Some of the other traffic-related issues logged by the police recently included: On Aug. 21 at 10:48 p.m., a bicycle rack on a vehicle reportedly obstructed the view of a license plate near the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Aerie Drive. On Aug. 21 at 6:24 a.m., a driver reportedly “continued into” an intersection after the stoplight turned red at Kearns Boulevard and Round Valley Drive. On Aug. 21 at midnight, a suspected speeding case was reported on Kearns Boulevard near Buffalo Bill Drive. The police said the driver was traveling at 53 mph in a location where the posted speed limit is 35 mph. On Aug. 19 at 5:36 p.m., someone reported a vehicle traveling at “excessive speeds” on S.R. 224 and passing at a blind curve.
