Indianapolis police are asking for the public's help finding the mother of an infant found abandoned behind a shopping center on the city's southeast side.The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning.Officers were called to a shopping center in the 5400 block of East Thompson Road, just east of Emerson Avenue, around 7 p.m. Monday for a "child check welfare" report.There, they found the baby, who they believe had been intentionally left in the area. Though they appeared unharmed, the infant was still taken to a hospital.IMPD asks anyone with information on the mom, the infant, or the circumstances around the incident to come forward. Tipsters can remain anonymous."This situation is a difficult reminder of the challenges many mothers and families face. IMPD encourages anyone in need to reach out for help and use available community resources," the department said.
