BATON ROUGE mdash; Southern University proposed a campus-wide dress code at a meeting on Friday.Southern University Chairman Attorney Tony Clayton said that the idea came to him after noticing other schools around the country, particularly HBCUs, roll out dress codes."I walked around campus the oth er day, I think we need it," Clayton said at the meeting.Tuskegee University implemented a new dress code that prohibited students from wearing bonnets and durags, along with revealing clothing and bedroom shoes, according to a report by ABC, reviving debates on whether dress codes perpetuate anti-Black stereotypes against students.nbsp;Clayton advised that the chancellors discuss the issue ahead of the next meeting on Sept. 18, where it could possibly appear on the agenda.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
