A driver faces charges after he intentionally crashed into a Delaware pub while drunk, police said. On Aug. 15, around 1:30 a.m., Delaware state troopers responded to the Two Stones Pub on 1203 Christiana Road in Newark for a report of a vehicle crashing into the building. The responding troopers found an unoccupied Mitsubishi Lancer that had crashed into the front of the pub which was closed at the time with no one inside. Investigators said they also found documents belonging to a man – later identified as 35-year-old Johnny Guzman of New Castle, Delaware, – inside the car. A short time later, the troopers found Guzman walking westbound along Christiana Road, according to investigators. Guzman appeared to be intoxicated and refused to perform any field sobriety tests, police said. Guzman was taken to a hospital while troopers executed a search warrant to determine his blood alcohol level. Investigators determined Guzman was inside the pub the night of Friday, Aug. 14, and remained there for several hours despite staff members asking him to leave multiple times. Police said Guzman eventually went into his car, drove away and then intentionally accelerated towards the pub’s front doors, crashing into the building. On Aug. 20, troopers obtained a warrant for Guzman’s arrest and he turned himself in. Guzman was charged with third-degree burglary, criminal mischief $5,000 or more, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of property collision, malicious mischief by a motor vehicle and other related traffic offenses.
