Gatton Park celebrated its one-year anniversary with a community event in downtown Lexington earlier this afternoon.The park welcomed more than 250,000 visitors and offered more than 200 free programs in its first year.Festiviti es included yoga in the park, live music, sweet treats, and activities for dogs.Donald Miller, Gatton Park director, said the anniversary event highlighted what the space means to the community."It's particularly special when we have events like these to see Gatton Park kind of become a community gathering space and people sit and enjoy these experiences together, but it's equally special for us on those typical days, those Tuesday mornings, to see families out here on the splash pad or reading a book together, playing on the playground or just enjoying the space, and I think those are my favorite experiences that I get to witness in the park."Gatton Park does not receive city funding to keep it running. ...read more read less
