American Kyle Kirkwood wins Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WISH) — An American driver got to celebrate in victory lane in our nation’s capital.
Kyle Kirkwood dominated the first-ever Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. to win the once-in-a-lifetime event.
The Andretti Global driver led 128 of the 147 laps. It’s the
most laps ever led by a driver in a street race in IndyCar history.
Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard finished in second, with Andretti Global’s Will Power coming home in third place.
Kirkwood is now just 91 points behind Alex Palou in the championship standings. Palou had a rough afternoon, which included a penalty and an incident on track. Palou finished 20th.
