The 133 people aboard an American Airlines flight headed to Dallas are OK after a device caught fire in mid-air Friday evening. American Airlines released a statement saying flight 2398 landed safely at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport after reports of smoke from a customer’s device during landing. According to air traffic control audio, the pilot reported, during landing, that there was a fire in the back of the cabin, and flight attendants were working to put it out. “We thank our crew for their professionalism and swift response to quickly contain the device,” American Airlines said in a statement. The aircraft was able to land safely and use its own power to taxi to the gate. Emergency personnel also met the aircraft at the gate upon arrival, per American Airlines procedure. One person was injured, treated, and released after landing. The extent of that passenger’s injuries is unknown. The flight was a regularly scheduled service from Atlanta, Georgia to Dallas and arrived four minutes off schedule.
