Police search for gunman after Brooklyn dog shot by stray bullet

Police continued searching Saturday for the person they say shot a dog in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The animal was struck by a stray bullet while out on a walk with her owner.

Honey was walking along 31st St. when a man pulled out a gun and started firing at another person, police said. One of the bullets — a .22-caliber round — struck Honey in the upper leg, according to her owner.
Photos shared with NBC New York by Honey’s owner showed a bullet hole and blood smear’s on her hair.

After Honey was shot, the owner rushed her to the vet, where the bullet was removed and the wound was stitched. Honey is expected to recover.
On Saturday evening, police officers were seen along 5th Ave. near a bullet covered by a cup. It was unclear whether that bullet was connected to Wednesday’s shooting.
