A few Saturday showers give way to a cool and comfortable start to next week | Aug. 22, 2026
Aug 22, 2026
TODAY
A few showers may be around during the morning as a weak cold front moves through central Indiana. Patchy fog is also possible early, but visibility should improve fairly quickly after sunrise. Rain coverage decreases toward midday, although an isolated shower or thunderstorm co
uld redevelop during the early afternoon, with the better chance east of Indianapolis. Most locations should spend a good portion of the afternoon dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs reach around 80 degrees. Northwest winds increase to around 5–10 mph, with occasional gusts near 20 mph.
TONIGHT
Any leftover shower should fade quickly during the evening, leaving partly cloudy and increasingly comfortable conditions overnight. Cooler and drier air continues settling into central Indiana with lows dropping into the lower 60s. West to northwest winds around 5–10 mph become lighter overnight. Patchy fog may develop toward daybreak Sunday, especially in sheltered and low-lying locations.
TOMORROW
Any early fog burns away during the morning, followed by an excellent late-August day. Some clouds may linger early before skies become mostly sunny. Humidity drops noticeably compared with much of the recent weather, and highs only reach the upper 70s. Northwest winds stay around 5–10 mph. Outdoor plans should have very few weather concerns Sunday.
TOMORROW NIGHT
Mostly clear, cool and comfortable conditions continue. Temperatures fall into the upper 50s, making this one of the cooler nights we have experienced recently. Winds become nearly calm. Some patchy fog could once again develop late at night or toward Monday morning.
MONDAY
The pleasant stretch continues with mostly sunny skies and very low rain chances. Highs remain in the middle to upper 70s with relatively low humidity. Winds stay light, generally around 5 mph or less. Monday should be another excellent day for outdoor activities and continued drying after the recent stretch of heavy rain.
MONDAY NIGHT
Partly cloudy and quiet with lows falling into the upper 50s. Winds become nearly calm, and no meaningful rain is expected.
TUESDAY
Mostly sunny skies continue as high pressure remains in control. Temperatures begin recovering slightly but remain comfortable for late August, with highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Humidity stays fairly low with light southerly winds around 5 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT
Clouds gradually increase as the weather pattern begins to change. Most of the night remains dry with lows in the lower 60s. Southeast winds remain light at around 5 mph.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday begins the transition back toward somewhat warmer and more humid weather. Expect a mixture of sun and clouds with highs reaching the lower 80s. A few showers or thunderstorms may develop later in the afternoon, although rain coverage currently looks fairly limited and the exact timing remains uncertain. South to southeast winds stay light at around 5 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
An isolated shower or thunderstorm remains possible as the next disturbance approaches. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies with lows in the middle 60s. Confidence in rain timing remains fairly low this far out, so later forecasts will help determine whether Wednesday night or Thursday ultimately becomes the wetter period.
7 DAY FORECAST
A weak front brings a few showers to central Indiana Saturday morning, with only a limited chance for an additional afternoon thunderstorm. Behind it, a much cooler and less humid air mass settles into the region. Sunday through Tuesday looks largely dry and very comfortable, with daytime temperatures generally in the upper 70s to around 80 and nighttime lows falling into the upper 50s and lower 60s. The prolonged dry stretch should also help conditions continue improving after the recent heavy rainfall, although some river flooding may take longer to completely subside. Temperatures and humidity begin creeping upward Wednesday as the next system approaches. Shower and thunderstorm chances gradually return Wednesday into Thursday, but confidence remains low regarding exactly when the better rain coverage arrives. Highs generally remain in the lower 80s Thursday and Friday, keeping temperatures close to or slightly below normal for late August.
