The City of Valdosta said it has renamed the Craig Center to the Jeanette Newbern Coody Warming/Cooling Shelter.The shelter is located at 1104 W. Gordon Street and is expected to be a safe place south Georgians can go to in extr eme heat and cold, officials said. Jeanette Newbern Coody was a well-known philanthropist in the Valdosta community. She passed away on March 18 at 103-years-old.It is fitting that a facility designed to provide safety and comfort to people during times of need will carry the name of someone who dedicated so much of her life to helping others.
