Taiwanese entertainment center Taroko Sports is finally stepping up to the plate in San Antonio. After a year of anticipation, the baseball-themed chain is opening its first San Antonio complex in the Park North Shopping Center at 618 NW Loop 410 on August 29.Batting cages are the centerpiece of Tar oko Sports, but the venue offers plenty of other diversions. Other baseball activities include a pitching mound and the HitTrax Suite, an augmented reality training module that allows jocks to compete in leagues or swing in some of the most famous stadiums in the world.“Our goal is to make baseball fun and accessible — not just for athletes, but for everyone,” says Gordon Hsieh, founder and CEO of TRK Corporation, in an earlier press release. “Taroko Sports is about creating a space where families, friends, and coworkers can come together to play, compete, and connect.”Still, one doesn’t need to bat a thousand to enjoy the space.
