We’ve already made it to our second to last weekend of August! The weather this weekend across South Florida will feel much like August as we’re looking at hot sunshine and the chance for some showers and storms. Before we get there, the rest of our Friday will look like this: dangerous h eat giving way to scattered storms during the mid to late afternoon hours. A Heat Advisory does remain in effect until 6PM for Miami-Dade and Broward. Then on Saturday, expect partly cloudy skies and isolated, pop-up showers and storms away from the coast. Highs will remain above average in the mid 90s courtesy of a very humid wind out of the south. Additional heat alerts are probably. A bit more moisture is projected to flow in on Sunday, that a few more showers and storms will be possible during the afternoon but still expect lots of dry time. Otherwise, it will also be hot with highs back in the mid 90s and feels-like temperatures in the triple digits. If you’re thinking of beach plans this weekend, it’s looking good besides that rain chance. The risk for rip currents will remain low. By next week, we’ll continue to experience more of a typical summertime pattern as more of an onshore breeze out of the southeast returns. This will lead to isolated to widely scattered morning and midday showers and storms across coastal and metro areas. Then the afternoons will feature drying conditions as that activity becomes better focused inland and toward the west coast. Given these higher chances for rain and winds a bit more easterly, teperatures will be closer to normal in the low to perhaps mid 90s. Tropical update The National Hurricane Center is watching two lows for potential tropical or subtropical development, both with a low 20% chance of forming — one east of Bermuda and the other traveling toward Portugal. ...read more read less
