(CNN)– The EPA says it’s issuing an emergency fuel waiver in an effort officials hope will lower gas prices. Starting September 1st, the EPA will end Summer-blend requirements early. That will allow 10% ethanol gasoline to be sold at higher vapor pressure boosting the nation’s fuel supply. The waiver will be in effect through September 15. As of Friday, August 21, AAA reports drivers in South Carolina are paying $3.69 per gallon. The national average for regular gas is $4.10.
