Marion County prosecutors have filed attempted murder charges against the 37-year-old suspect in a police shooting that injured two IMPD officers.Kreshaun Brinkley, who was also injured in the shooting, has been released from th
e hospital and is currently being held at the Marion County jail.The incident unfolded in the 300 block of North Fleming Street on Indy's west side around 2:30 p.m. Aug. 14.Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT officers served a narcotics warrant at a home when the suspect, Brinkley, fired at officers exiting their armored vehicle.Two officers were hit in the initial gunfire; returning fire from IMPD struck Brinkley at least once as he retreated into the residence.After brief discussions with crisis negotiators, Brinkley surrendered around 3:15 p.m.A court case opened in Marion Superior Court 31 on Thursday shows Brinkley facing charges of three counts of attempted murder, five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, three counts of criminal recklessness, and one count of criminal vandalism.Brinkley is due in court Friday morning for a hearing.This is a developing story.
