Colts players reflect on how they improved during training camp
Aug 20, 2026
WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Thursday’s joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons wrapped up Colts Training Camp for the year, and was also the last practice with training camp at Grand Park.
After 13 practices in Westfield (and one joint practice with the New England Patriots in Foxborough), C
olts head coach Shane Steichen shared what he has seen from his team.
“Camp’s been good,” Steichen said. “The back and forth with our offense and our defense, I’m really pleased with where we’re at. Obviously, we got some things to get cleaned up like always, but really pleased with everything.”
Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart was happy with the work put in during training camp as well.
“I’d say we grew a lot,” Stewart said. “From day one to now, each day we got better. Each day, you got players stepping up. Young guys getting better. And the older guys doing better with their technique. I’d say we’ve been growing every day.”
The Colts had stability at the quarterback position during training camp this year, with Daniel Jones being the team’s starter. Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox enjoyed the consistency at quarterback.
“Shane’s done a great job pushing us, especially these last two camps have been harder than our camps in the past and different things like that,” Alie-Cox said. “He tries to keep the tempo very up. I would say the biggest difference this year was probably our pass game was way more efficient. I think that just came from just working with one quarterback all camp.”
The Colts are set to play the Falcons on Saturday in a preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. It is the Colts’ second of three preseason games.
Riley Leonard will start at quarterback and play the first half. Anthony Richardson will then play quarterback in the second half.
