INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — High school football is finally back, and The Zone has it all covered! The following 25 games will have highlights on “The Zone,” airing on WISH-TV and WRTV at 11:08 p.m. on Friday night. Brownsburg at Lawrence North Brownsburg looks to continue its reign, as the Bulldogs have won the last two state championships in Class 6A. They have won 19 straight games dating back to 2024. Lawrence North went 7-3 last season, but was knocked out in its first game of the state tournament by Lawrence Central. Brownsburg and Lawrence North last played in the regional championship in 2024, a game Brownsburg won by just one point. Cathedral at Ben Davis Cathedral and Ben Davis face off to open the season for the third straight year, and Cathedral has won both previous season openers. Cathedral finished last season 7-4 and Ben Davis finished last season 3-7. This will be Brett Cooper’s first game as Ben Davis’ head coach. Warren Central at Center Grove Warren Central beat Center Grove in the regional championship last season, which was the first regional title for the Warriors since 2018. This will be Center Grove’s first game back in the Metropolitan Conference. The two teams matched up in Week 1 last year as well, a game Center Grove won, 24-6. Fishers at Carmel Carmel beat Fishers 49-24 in Week 1 last season. The Greyhounds went 9-2 last year, losing to Westfield in overtime in the sectional championship. Fishers won their sectional for the second straight season last year. Avon at Decatur Central Avon had a winning record (6-5) for the first time since 2019 last season. The Orioles beat Decatur Central in overtime in Week 1 last season as well. Decatur Central finished 9-3 last season and won their sectional after jumping up to 6A. Zionsville at Pike Zionsville and Pike have played in Week 1 in every year since 2016. Zionsville has won four of the last five meetings, including a 27-7 win in 2025. Franklin Central at Plainfield Plainfield went 7-3 last season and has had a winning record in each of the past three seasons. Franklin Central went 5-6 in 2025. Columbus North at Whiteland Columbus North beat Whiteland 49-7 in Week 1 last season. Columbus North finished 4-6 last year. Whiteland went 9-3 last year and won eight straight games before losing to East Central in the sectional championship. Franklin at Southport Franklin beat Southport 38-0 in Week 1 last season. The Grizzly Cubs went 4-6 in 2025. Southport went 2-9 in 2025. North Central at Brebeuf North Central beat Brebeuf 35-13 in Week 1 last season. The Panthers went 2-8 in 2025 and Brebeuf also went 3-8. Westfield at Fort Wayne Homestead Westfield has made it to the last two state championship games in Class 6A, losing both to Brownsburg. The Shamrocks beat Homestead 35-0 in Week 1 last season. Homestead went 6-4 in 2025. HSE at Fort Wayne Carroll This is the fourth straight season HSE has played Fort Wayne Carroll to start the year, with the Royals winning each time so far. HSE went 6-5 in 2025 and Carroll went 9-4, losing to Westfield in the semi-state round. Roncalli at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Roncalli and Bishop Dwenger played twice last season, once in Week 1 (Roncalli won 3-0) and again in the 4A state championship (Bishop Dwenger won 36-29). Wheaton St. Francis (IL) at New Palestine New Palestine has won 28 straight games, having won the 4A state championship in 2024 and the 5A state championship in 2025. Perry Meridian at Beech Grove Perry Meridian went 2-8 last season. This will be Rob Patchett’s first game as the Falcons’ head coach. Beech Grove went 7-4 last season. Jeffersonville at Lawrence Central Lawrence Central went 5-6 in 2025, losing to Decatur Central in the sectional title game. Jeffersonville went 4-6 last year. Speedway at Heritage Christian Heritage Christian beat Speedway 36-15 in Week 1 last season. Speedway was 1-9 in 2025 and Heritage Christian was 7-5. The Eagles lost to Lutheran in the sectional title last year. Arsenal Tech at Noblesville Noblesville was 1-9 last season. Tech finished 4-6 in 2025. McCutcheon at Guerin Catholic Guerin Catholic has played McCutcheon in Week 1 every year since 2018. The Golden Eagles have won seven straight games against the Mavericks. Seymour at Greenwood This is the fifth straight year that Greenwood and Seymour have matched up to start the season. Greenwood won last year, 38-8. Greenwood and Seymour both finished 2-8 last season. Cascade at Monrovia Cascade went undefeated last season, going 15-0 and winning the 3A state championship. This will be Nick Brickens’ first game as the head coach of the Cadets. Monrovia finished 4-7 last year. Alexandria at Greenfield-Central Alexandria went 7-3 last season. Greenfield-Central was 6-5 in 2025. Covenant Christian at Park Tudor Park Tudor won the matchup between these teams last season, 44-34 in the season opener. Covenant Christian was 2-8 last season. Park Tudor went 5-5. Columbus East at Mooresville Both teams are coming off 5-5 seasons. Both teams are also playing in Class 4A this season. Columbus East played the last five seasons in 5A. Mt. Vernon at Kokomo The last time these teams played was in the season opener in 2014, a game Kokomo won. Mt. Vernon was 0-10 last season. Kokomo went 4-7. ...read more read less
