A 74-year-old man was arrested after officials said he struck a repair shop employee with his vehicle following a verbal argument Tuesday in Claymont, Delaware. According to Delaware State Police, Ellis Brownson is facing two felony charges in connection with the assault of an employee at the Mei neke Car Care Center on Philadelphia Pike. At approximately 11:45 a.m., troopers responded to the repair shop after receiving a report that an employee had been struck by a customer’s vehicle. When they arrived, troopers spoke with the employee and the customer, who was later identified as Brownson. Officials said a preliminary investigation found that Brownson and the employee became involved in a verbal dispute after Brownson refused to pay the full amount due for repairs to his car. At some point during the argument, Brownson left the business and got into his car. According to troopers, the employee stood in front of Brownson’s car, and Brownson drove forward, striking the employee. Troopers took Brownson into custody, and he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and second-degree assault. Brownson’s bail was set at $22,500 cash.
