Neighbor reacts as investigation into Fort Worth murder, standoff continues

As Fort Worth police continue to investigate a fatal shooting between neighbors, they could end up looking into a history of disputes claimed by both the suspect and others who lived nearby.
Two years before the August 9th shooting that left Rudy Jaramillo dead, Fae Collins said she moved in nea
r the future crime scene along Talons Crest Circle.
She shared pictures of how she remembers her time there, including her neighbor Jose Escamilla sitting outside with a rifle in hand and cameras she says he trained on the neighbors.
Collins describes a pattern of that harassment and shared a police report filed last December when she says Escamilla assaulted her 11-year-old son.
“I no longer allowed my kids to leave my house unless they were with me or their dad because of the fact that I saw him with the gun and I was terrified of what he was going to do,” said Collins.
She said her family chose to break their lease and move.
Then on August 9th, Collins learned of a police standoff in her old neighborhood.
“The neighbor who lived behind, she called me,” she said.
Fort Worth Police eventually took Escamilla into custody after they said surveillance video showed him shooting and killing Jaramillo, another neighbor.
“She was like, ‘He snapped. You said it. I said it. We called about him so many times. He shot him. He murdered him in his own car’,” said Collins, recounting the conversation.
According to an arrest affidavit, Escamilla told police “there have been ongoing disputes with his neighbors.”
He told them he’d called police just a week or two before “because he suspected [neighbors] of moving his surveillance cameras.”
When NBC 5 asked Fort Worth Police about prior complaints involving Escamilla, they responded, “The latest information is what was sent out on the redacted affidavit. Nothing further is available on this active investigation.”
With no charges filed in her own case, Collins says more should have been done.
“It’s too late for them to do anything at this point. They let this happen,” she said.
Escamilla is charged with murder and remains behind bars on $250,000 bond.
NBC 5 reached out to his lawyer and is awaiting a response.
