Garland Police say a 5-year-old girl died Tuesday after being left in a car. Police said they were called to a home on Redbird Drive at about 8:20 p.m. and arrived to find family members attempting lifesaving measures on a young girl when they arrived. The child was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. While investigating what took place in the moments leading up to the child’s death, police said they learned an adult family member had returned home from school with the girl and her sibling; the 5-year-old was left inside the car. It’s unclear how old the sibling is. Police said the parent realized the girl was missing and found her unresponsive inside the car; the family began CPR and called 911. No charges have yet been filed in relation to this case and the investigation into the girl’s death is ongoing. The high temperature reached at DFW Airport on Tuesday was 104 degrees. It’s unclear when the family arrived at home and how long the child was in the car, but according to the National Weather Service, the temperature at 7:53 p.m. was 100 degrees.
