Delaware woman accused of attacking storage facility employee with hammer

A Delaware woman is facing several charges after police said she attacked a storage facility employee with a hammer and put them in a chokehold.
According to Delaware State Police, on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, around 10 a.m., troopers were called to Storage Rentals of America, located at 2090 Staf
ford Way in Newark, after receiving a report about a fight.
Police said an investigation revealed that 35-year-old Amber Goldsborough, of Townsend, Delaware, was informed by staff that she was no longer permitted to conduct business at the facility; that’s when she became involved in a verbal dispute with an employee.
During the argument, police said Goldsborough threatened to harm the employee before striking the employee multiple times with a hammer.
Goldsborough then placed the employee in a chokehold, restricting the employee’s ability to breathe, according to police.
A witness intervened and separated Goldsborough from the employee, police said. Goldsborough then assaulted the witness. Both the employee and the witness then retreated inside the business and locked the door while Goldsborough continued yelling threats at them.
The employee was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The witness declined medical treatment at the scene.
When troopers attempted to take Goldsborough into custody, she physically resisted, police said. After a brief struggle, Goldsborough was arrested.
Goldsborough was charged with felony assault and weapon charges and committed to the Department of Corrections on a $74,001 cash bond.
