Indiana prison inmate faces charges in January 2025 homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A warrant has been served against an Indiana Department of Corrections inmate now accused in a January homicide.
Kim Williams Jr., 37, was being held at the Plainfield Correctional Facility, serving a one-year sentence for gun crimes. IMPD announced the warrant Tuesda
y morning.
On Jan. 15, 2025, 38-year-old Jeremy Patton was found shot and killed at the Overlook at the Fairgrounds apartments near East 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway.
At the time of the murder, IMPD detained a person of interest, though they were later released. Following months of investigation, police served Williams a warrant on Monday.
Online court records show Williams faces charges of murder, unlawful carrying of a handgun with a previous conviction, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer.
A court date for this case has not been set.
