Indiana's State Board of Finance has unanimously approved $130,450,219.60 in reimbursements for revenue lost in June during the gas tax holiday.Of that, over $43.8 million will be sent directly to counties, cities, and towns wit hin the next week.The distribution amount broken out for each local unit can be found here.This is the second approval from the board, after reimbursements were also approved for April and May last month.Back in April, Governor Mike Braun suspended the Gasoline Excise Tax and the Gas Use Tax to give Hoosiers relief at the pump. He extended it through August.Normally, these gas taxes fund roads and infrastructure. To keep local governments from losing out, the state is reimbursing the lost revenue.The State Comptroller's Office will distribute payments starting Tuesday, with all expected to be completed by November 1.I made a commitment that we would provide gas tax relief to Hoosiers without leaving our local communities to foot the bill. I'm grateful to the Board of Finance for their partnership in once again helping us keep that promise.
