The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 4:56 a.m. on Tuesday until 9 a.m. for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties."Patchy dense fog is impacting the Western Southern Tier, especially in and near river and creek valleys. The dense fog will reduce visibility to a q uarter mile or less. Motorists should slow down, maintain plenty of stopping distance ahead of their vehicles, and use their low beam headlights when encountering fog.
