Two families are left with more questions than answers after a 911 call on Sunday that someone inside a home on Sequoia Court had been shot.
“[I got a call] and she said, ‘I just wanted you to know that shooting happened on Sequoia was at my house,'” Dr. Monica Lewis, the godmother of accus
ed shooter Mirron ‘Boogie’ Foster, said. “I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ She said, ‘That was Boogie.’ I said Boogie’s dead?’ She said, ‘No, Boogie shot Jayden.’ I said, ‘You got to be kidding me.’ I just lost it.”
Foster, 18, is accused of shooting 18-year-old Jayden Christman, according to his family. He was arrested Sunday. Lewis told NBC 5 that Foster has special needs and has been struggling with his mental health.
“He just lost his footing and needed somebody to help him get his footing back,” Lewis said.
Lewis said Christman was trying to help support Foster. According to DeSoto police, Christman was shot in his chest at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
“Officers provided first aid until DeSoto Fire Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries,” DeSoto Police said.
Christman’s brother posted on social media on Monday, saying that Christman had just graduated from Mansfield High School and was leaving to join the Army next week.
“Everybody’s hurt,” Lewis said. “This is a sad day.”
Both families are trying to make sense of it all. Lewis said Foster’s family has talked to Jayden’s family, apologizing for what happened.
Lewis wishes more could have been done to help her godson before a life was taken.
“Enough is enough. This is a call to action,” Lewis said. “[Foster] needed more intervention.”
DeSoto police have not provided an update on possible charges.
