PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction on cruelty charges after an injured dog was found abandoned in an alley in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The dog was discovered back on Saturday, Aug. 8 in an alley along North Market Street between Mc Govern Avenue and Liberty Street, according to reports. Officers with the Manheim Township Police Department had found the white, black and brown pit bull-type dog wrapped in a blanket with multiple deep wounds and apparent bite injuries that required medical treatment. Based on the nature and extent of the dog’s injuries, PETA believes the animal may have been involved in illegal dog fighting. “This poor dog likely endured terrifying violence before being left bleeding and terrified in an alley,” said PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “Someone knows who hurt and abandoned him, and PETA urges anyone with information to come forward so that whoever is responsible can be held accountable—and prevented from hurting anyone else.” Anyone with information about who abandoned the dog is asked to come forward and contact the Manheim Township Police Department at 717-569-6401, ex. 1505, or the department’s tip line. ...read more read less
