Camille Anne Cardinal, 68, died unexpectedly but peacefully in the early morning hours of July 15, 2026, with close friends surrounding her with love. Camille was born in Burlington, Vt., on August 9, 1957, and, soon after, joined her new family: parents Herve and Veronica and brothers Louie, Ma tt, Mike and Ande. Camille grew up in a house on the lake in Colchester, Vt. She loved going out on the boat for after-dinner excursions and taking family vacations on the boat for days at a time. She graduated from Colchester High School, where her friends gave her the nickname “Hurricane Camille.” Camille participated in Special Olympics, starting as a teen and continuing through most of her adult life. She loved competing in basketball, bocce, bowling, cross-country skiing and especially swimming. Her mom, Veronica, was her biggest fan. Camille was a talented artist. She loved creative art, drawing with special pens and markers, making bracelets for her friends, and trying any arts and crafts project she could find on Amazon. She loved going to Grace Arts, where she could hone her skills. Camille touched every person she came into contact with. She was full of love, adventure, kindness, caring and sass. And boy, could she make you laugh. “Pull my finger,” “Yeah, baby!,” “Hair ball” (after a coughing fit). For a time, she even did standup comedy at the Resource Center. She thrived when she was with others. Camille was so grateful for all the support she received from her friends while she was in the hospital. She had her struggles, but she never let them stop her from living her best life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will take place on August 19, 2026, 1 p.m., at Resurrection Park Cemetery, at the columbarium, on Hinesburg Road in South Burlington. A reception will follow at the church hall next door. All are invited to attend both. Please join us and share your memories of Camille.
