DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind.— A Muncie dog grandmother is among 7 people killed in Indiana flooding.
Stephanie Jo Sallee, 58, and her dog, Faith, died on Friday after they were found in a cornfield in a rural area of Yorktown.
Her family said she will be missed deeply.
“She had a h
eart for others,” Stephanie’s family said in a statement. “She never judged people. She persevered many trials in her life and remained a compassionate and loving person. Her family meant the world to her.”
Stephanie adored her nephews and grandkids and great grandkids, according to her family.
Deputies found her body Friday in a cornfield along South Bell Creek Road.
Investigators believe Stephanie’s vehicle was swept off the road by floodwaters that reached more than 3 feet deep Thursday. Authorities believe she likely died after she exited the car to escape the current.
