An Arlington officer is recovering after being shot in Dallas while off duty Saturday evening. Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 3100 block of South Westmoreland Road at approximately 3:50 a.m. Their preliminary investigation revealed that an off-duty out-of-jurisdiction office r was shot by 33-year-old Darriyous Johunkin. The suspect was arrested at the scene and transported to Lew Sterrett Jail. Johunkin is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The injured officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Upon his arrival, he was taken into surgery and is currently stable, according to Arlington police. Dallas Police Department is leading the shooting investigation, which is ongoing. The facts and circumstances surrounding this incident are also being investigated.
