(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 16)–A woman and baby were injured during an assault from an abduction in north Lincoln and later in a southeast Lincoln car crash Sunday afternoon, police said. LPD Lt. Phillip Tran tells KFOR News officers were called around 2pm S unday to the area of 48th and “Y” Street, after several callers reported seeing a man force a woman into a vehicle, as she yelled for help. Lt. Tran said witnesses reported the woman had blood on her face and a child was in the vehicle. LPD later found the vehicle near 48th and Pioneers and followed it, after it fled from officers. The pursuit ended after the suspect’s vehicle collided into another vehicle at 56th and Old Cheney, where the suspect, 26-year-old Steven Schroeder of Lincoln, was taken into custody. He’s been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, domestic assault, child abuse, willful reckless driving and fleeing to avoid arrest. Lt. Tran said the woman was taken to a Lincoln hospital for injuries she suffered during the assault and crash. The infant was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Their conditions are not known. The driver of the vehicle hit by Schroeder’s vehicle suffered minor injuries. As of 5pm Sunday, this is still an active investigation.
