Open Thread: Devin Vassell reveals his least favorite OKC player
Aug 16, 2026
On Saturday, Devin Vassell hosted a pair of basketball camps at Wagner High School, a morning session for elementary and middle school aged players and an afternoon for the high schoolers. During his morning session, a camper asked Vassell who his “least favorite player on OKC” was. Bef
ore the Florida native could respond, the campers began a unison call of “SGA.”
Vassell took a minute, paced around the court, engaged with special guest Carter Bryant (who visually displayed he did not care to answer), calmed the campers down and then stated “it’s all of them. We don’t like OKC around here” to rousing applause.
My colleague Carolina Teague was on the scene and caught this video.
“Who is your LEAST favorite player on OKC?” 😭One of the youth campers at Devin Vassell’s basketball camp came with the rage bait, and the crowd immediately started chanting “SGA!” before Devin gave this playful response 😂 :@spurfectblog #PorVida pic.twitter.com/laFFiaRolS— Carolina Teague (@CTtheMicSlayer) August 15, 2026
While his response was fun and elicited a response in the moment, it should go without saying that overall players respect one another. These young athletes come up together competing at an early age in regional and national teams. they meet in tournaments, are invited to tour the same prestigious high schools, and then compete collegiately in hopes of hearing their name called on draft day.
While fans make enemies of their opponents, the players often visit with one another after the games. Tony Parker was known to have French players from visiting teams over to his home. The game is the game, and life is life. It’s one of those attributes that has been instilled by Gregg Popovich.
But claiming your rival is the enemy sure riles up a gym full of kids in the moment. Looks like they all had fun and picked up skills along the way.
