City leaders and community members gathered Saturday for a vigil honoring two victims of a shooting that left one of them dead in North Philadelphia earlier this week. The vigil comes three days after police identified Shariff Perry as the suspect wanted in the Aug. 9 double shooting on North 24t h Street that killed Michelle Wilson, 61, and injured her 67-year-old husband. According to Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace, the incident unfolded late Sunday at about 11:49 p.m. on the 2800 block of North 24th Street, when officers responded to a report of a person with a gun. When they arrived, first responders found Wilson and her husband suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. Wilson had been shot in her neck and back and, police said, the man was shot in his buttocks. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where Wilson died. Police said both victims were shot outside of their home. At the scene, Pace said, investigators found blood, personal belongings and, at least, 20 spent bullet shells on the porch, stairs, sidewalk and in the street. Surveillance video obtained by NBC10 shows the moment a man wearing a baseball cap and a medical mask walked towards the scene. In the video, he appears to produce, what looks like, a handgun from a bag before moving it to the inside of his coat as he walks along the sidewalk. Investigators have not revealed if the victims were the intended targets in this incident, or if they were hit by gunfire intended for someone else.
