INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) Gov. Mike Braun has declared a statewide disaster emergency in Indiana following widespread damage caused by severe storms, flooding, and a derecho that swept across the state this week.The Republican govern or announced the declaration Thursday on X, saying it will mobilize state agencies, unlock emergency resources and provide additional tools to support local response and recovery efforts.Hoosiers' safety is my top priority, Braun wrote. Our state response is fully mobilized, resources are moving where they're needed, and we will continue working around the clock to support every impacted community.The declaration takes effect immediately and will remain in place for 30 days.Under the order, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security has been directed to coordinate with state, local and federal agencies to deploy emergency services to impacted counties. ...read more read less
