At this month’s meeting (August 12th) of the Mobridge City Council, the council received an update on the wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation project from Michael Gorder of Moore Engineering and then approved a task order for the project. https://media-cdn.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content /blogs.dir/2626/files/2026/08/08-12-26-michael-gorder.mp3 Council also approved a step increase for Charles Kaiser, who has reached an anniversary date in the Water/Wastewater Department. Fire Department Council approved new Fire Department members Kyle Brown and Peyton Schaeffer for wildland. They also gave approval to the pay rates for wildland firefighters, which are reimbursed through the Fire Department’s wildland program. Police Department Keith Stetser has completed his 6-month probation and was approved for a step increase. Mobridge Finance Officer and City Administrator Heather Beck gave the council an update on the staff shortage in the Police Department. https://media-cdn.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/2626/files/2026/08/08-12-26-beck-on-recruits.mp3   Finance Department: Public hearing was held and approval given for a temporary liquor license for Mobridge Rodeo for a wedding at Scherr-Howe Event Center on September 19th; Council approved the rehiring of Mackenzie Whitebull for building maintenance at 20 hours per week; 3 cemetery deed transfers were approved; And council approved Resolution 26-6 for a sidewalk waiver requested by Jeff Jackson for the old Wayne Schmidt property on 10th avenue west. Language was added to the resolution stating that the waiver is only valid until a permanent structure is built.
