Known across Major League Baseball for making unique bats — especially during All-Star Week — Victus Sport, in King of Prussia, has created something special for Thursday night’s MLB at Field of Dreams game. Though, they are kind of corny. As the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Minnes ota Twins during an MLB at Field of Dreams game that will take place in Dyersville, Iowa on Thursday night, players will be swinging a corn bat, created in honor of the event. And, while the game will be held in a cornfield in the middle of nowhere — just like Kevin Costner’s baseball diamond was in 1989’s Field of Dreams — there will be a touch of the Philadelphia spirit in the game. Not only will the players be swinging corncob-looking bats designed by Bruce Tatum, also known as the “Bat King” and made by the local Victus Sports, but the field itself was designed by a company from Blue Bell, Pa. — Brightview. The company has been an MLB consultant since 2019 and helps build fields outside of traditional ballparks. Brightview helped bring the MLB at Field of Dreams game to life in 2021, 2022 and this year as the Phillies are set to take on the Twins at 7:30 p.m. And, of course, the Philadelphia Phillies will be there, too. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Fightin’s are coming off back-to-back losses to the St. Louis Cardinals after having both of their best pitchers — namely, Cristopher Sanchez and Zach Wheeler — on the mound. Right-hander Aaron Nola is expected to start for the Phillies in tonight’s game. The Phillies are not nine-and-a-half games back from the Atlanta Braves for their division and are tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the third wild card spot in the National League. The MLB at Field of Dreams game will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. and it will air on Netflix.
