The Dover Police Department identified the remains of a woman found last week near a retention pond. On Tuesday, police identified the remains found on Aug. 4, near West North and Banning streets, as Tiffany Pendexter, 37, of Dover. Officials said Pendexter’s remains were discovered by a gro unds maintenance worker in an overgrown area near a retention pond. According to police, the area had not been maintained for approximately 13 months. Police said that due to the advanced state of decomposition, investigators were initially limited in the information that could be obtained regarding the identity and circumstances surrounding the death. “At this time, there are no obvious signs of foul play, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community,” police wrote in a release. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science’s Medical Examiner Unit is continuing its examination. The Dover Police Department is awaiting the results as part of its investigation. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7111.
