A Dallas police officer fired four rounds toward a fellow officer and a robbery suspect during the arrest of a man accused of stealing a Porsche after threatening a 9-year-old girl, according to new details and video released by the Dallas Police Department. No officers, civilians, or the suspect were injured in the Aug. 6 shooting, police said Dallas Police said officers tracked the stolen Porsche to an address off Williamstown Road between DNT and Preston about an hour after the robbery was reported. Officers said the victim provided officers with real-time location updates using the car’s tracking application. As uniformed officers conducted a felony traffic stop, DPD said an undercover officer positioned an unmarked vehicle in front of the Porsche and got out with his department-issued handgun drawn. Police said an officer then fired four rounds in the direction of the covert officer and 39-year-old Renard McFadden. Rocha stopped shooting after realizing the person he had fired toward was another officer, police said. Video released by the department captures officers repeatedly yelling, “Blue! Blue!” McFadden then got out of the Porsche and surrendered, according to police. The alleged robbery: Police said it all started with a 911 call from a business off Sunnyvale Street in southern Dallas. DPD said in a press conference Monday that a woman parked her white Porsche Cayenne outside a business while her daughter remained inside. Police allege McFadden arrived in a stolen Ford F-150, approached the girl, and threatened her, saying he was armed. The girl then ran into the business to alert her mother, who confronted McFadden who then again indicated he was armed before taking the Porsche. A troubling 911 call The released video includes the mother’s 911 call immediately after the alleged robbery. She tells the dispatcher that a man had just robbed her and her daughter and stolen her Porsche. In audio released by DPD, the woman can be heard telling the dispatcher her daughter was in the vehicle when the suspect first tried to take the car. Dispatcher: “Your daughter was in the car?” Caller: “Yes. Like literally she had came in screaming…” Dispatcher: “Did he have a gun on your daughter?” Caller: “Yes, both of us.” Body-worn camera video Multiple body-worn camera videos released by DPD also show the moments of the arrest when shots were fired. Video shows officers call out to the suspect to exit the vehicle with his hands up. Four shots are heard, and eventually officers call out”Blue! Blue!” to indicate the covert officer, and McFadden lies on the ground and surrenders. A release from DPD said officers found a loaded handgun inside the stolen Porsche. Additional evidence is being examined as part of other violent crime investigations, and additional charges are being pursued. McFadden is currently charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Robbery, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
