The Chicago Park District is extending some of its end-of-summer aquatics programs through Labor Day weekend, keeping 20 community pools, 23 beaches and over 200 water play features open.The expanded schedule means beaches and some pools will be open though Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7. The Park Dis trict said it chose to extend the closing dates of 20 pools in many neighborhoods with higher vulnerability to extreme heat, based on Chicago's updated Heat Vulnerability Index.
