BART changes schedules to reduce delays, crowding
Aug 10, 2026
New BART schedule changes took effect Monday, bringing adjustments that could shorten wait times for riders across the system.
The biggest changes are at the Daly City station, where BART has changed how trains use the station’s three platforms.
BART spokesperson Chris Filippi said the stati
on is essentially being converted into a single-platform operation, allowing riders to use one platform for all trains.
“We’re turning this essentially into a single platform station, which means riders just go to one platform for all of the trains,” Filippi said. “It simplifies things and, more importantly, eases a bottleneck in the system.”
BART officials said the changes will improve train spacing throughout the system, reducing the amount of time riders have to wait if they miss a train.
Fillipi encouraged riders to check the BART app or website before traveling because train departure times have shifted by a few minutes.
“We’re really advising our riders to go to our app or website and get the latest information,” he said. “They will see their train times will have changed by a couple minutes, so we want them to be prepared for that.”
In addition to Daly City, riders transferring at MacArthur and Bay Fair stations will also see schedule changes and are encouraged to pay close attention to the updated train times.
