Storms will remain slow-moving enough to produce brief heavy rain and minor street flooding in spots, but widespread severe weather is not expected.nbsp;Today and Tonight: Sunday start s warm and humid with a few showers possible near the coast during the morning. As temperatures rise, the sea breeze will help trigger more showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, with coverage increasing inland. Storm motion will be a little faster than Saturday, around 10 mph, which should limit how long heavy rain sits over one location. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid 90s, with heat index values around 105 degrees. Any storms will fade during the evening.Up Next: The typical summer pattern continues through the middle of the week, with daily afternoon storms diminishing, and temperatures in the-mid 90s. Rain chances will remain fairly routine, but the bigger change comes later in the week as heat builds back in.By Thursday and Friday, heat index values could begin flirting with Heat Advisory levels, especially across inland areas where temperatures can climb into the mid 90s before storms develop. Looking ahead to next weekend, the heat and humidity will likely remain a bigger part of the forecast, and advisories may be needed with highs in the upper 90s.Tropics: The Atlantic is starting to show a little more activity, although there are still no immediate concerns for the Gulf Coast. The National Hurricane Center is watching a tropical wave several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, giving it a 20% chance of development over the next seven days.Another wave is expected to emerge from the African coast Tuesday and has a higher 40% chance of developing later this week as it moves west across the eastern and central Atlantic.
