A 31-year-old man identified as Trevor Shell was arrested after allegedly raising, pointing and pulling the trigger of a handgun at officers outside his apartment located in the 8400 block of Buckland Street in La Mesa early Saturday morning, according to a release from the City of La Mesa. La M esa police responded to a report of domestic violence at the residence just after 3:30 a.m. During the call, a single gunshot was fired inside the apartment. Police said the bullet traveled through a shared wall into a neighboring apartment and struck an uninvolved 51-year-old man while he was sleeping. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported. Following the shooting, Shell dropped his weapon and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. Officers used a WRAP restraint during the arrest, and Shell was taken to the hospital to “evaluate his altered mental state,” according to the City of La Mesa. No shots were fired by law enforcement. Once released from the hospital, Shell will be booked into San Diego County Jail on multiple charges, according to the City of La Mesa. As of Saturday morning, the La Mesa Police Investigations Division remained at the scene investigating the incident. ...read more read less
